This week's veteran member, MB & Associates, has truly stood the test of time -38 years of insurance service to northwest Missouri.  MB & Associates is better known as JB-LB Insurance in Cameron, but has 2 other convenient locations as well: Koehly, Baker, & Associates in Chillicothe and Mericle Agency in Plattsburg.  I always am fascinated by the origins of businesses names.  JB-LB is pretty straight forward as it's named after Jerry Baker and Lois Baker who started the business in October, 1968.  Jerry and Lois retired and sold the business to their son, Mark and wife Nina, on July 1, 1997
Mark has been involved in JB-LB for over 28 years and knows all aspects of the insurance business.  He is a graduate of Cameron High School and attended Missouri Western State University.  He is a past state chairman of MAIA Young Agents and was instrumental in bringing the National IIAM Young Agents annual conference to Missouri.  Mark stays active in the community by serving on various advisory boards in the area as well being a long-standing member in the Cameron Chamber of Commerce.  Nina works in the office at JB-LB and deals with the daily requirements of running an insurance agency.  Nina is a member of PEO Chapter BK and is currently serving as president.  Together, they are members of the Turney United Methodist Church and Charter members of the newly organized Cameron Saddle Club where Mark serves as Secretary/Treasurer.  If you saw the Chamber Christmas Parade, you'll remember this impressive group.  Much of their free time is spent on their farm south of town where they raise both paint and quarter horses.  They can be found either in the barn or out on the trails riding.
JB-LB Insurance has been a fixture at 216 E, 6th St. since 1973.  It remains a family business with Mark, his wife, Nina, and their daughter Tawnya Stuedle on staff.  Tawnya has been working in the JB-LB office since she was fifteen and just recently completed her CIC designation.  It's always a good sign when a business treats employees well, almost like family.  When you can keep employees for over 30 years, you must provide a pretty good place to work.  JB-LB Insurance is an independent agency representing multiple companies.  Mark and his staff are able to identify and evaluate the individual financial risks of their customers.  They then customize an insurance policy to transfer the financial risk to the insurance company based on these individual needs.  On the personal insurance side, they handle home, auto, SR 22, livestock mortality, life, individual health, and disability insurance.  On the commercial insurance side, JB-LB offers general liability, property, garage keepers, workers compensation, builders risk, bonds, and group health.  That's pretty much the entire spectrum of insurance needs!
