Chamber News by Artis Stoebener, Executive Director Lawns Unlimited and Country Hills Nursery Inc. represents both a new member and a veteran. Lawns Unlimited will celebrate 25 years in business this year with Country Hills Nursery its second full year. Both businesses strive to make your property look as beautiful as possible. Both Lawns Unlimited and Country Hills Nursery Inc. are located on the south edge of town on 69 Hwy and are owned and operated by the same dynamo, Zack Workman. He is truly one of Cameron's and the Chamber's guiding lights and was honored by the Cameron Community Betterment committee on both the local and state level as their 2006 Man of the Year. These are two labor-intensive businesses cover all aspects of lawns and gardens. Once you see the amazing greenhouses at Country Hills Nursery, you really appreciate all that's involved w/plants. Zack could rent it as a meeting facility! It's spotless, light and airy and BIG. Then you start looking at all the selections and you better allow a lot of time just to compare the 15,000 annuals and perennials adapted to this zone including rarities like heirloom tomatoes I'd never seen, Jackson Perkins roses, spectacular hanging baskets, standing baskets, and designer items like a 4' sculpture of 4 tilted pots on a pole. Ben Butler's nursery crew will even plant baskets to your unique specifications. Anything from Country Hills Nursery makes the ultimate gift. You couldn't help but want to become a gardener! . I can't wait to see what they'll have this year. Then there's the long-established company, Lawns Unlimited Inc. that began in 1982, now celebrating 25 years of growth. Zack is quick to point out his appreciation for his staff that has been with him for years. Carol Stout, Jack Workman, Larry Workman, Kevin Clough, Chad Scott, Ben Butler, and Ed Powell help to make up the support staff that makes everything come together. Current services include all aspects of lawn maintenance including Lawn Care Applications, seeding, residential and commercial irrigation systems, snow removal, tree plantings (ranging from saplings to really big), extruded concrete borders, decks. pergolas, and brick patios, as well as all aspects of landscaping, from design to implementation. A brand new feature will begin in mid March on Saturday mornings with a 30 minute broadcast on KKWK with Ben and Zack along with special guests featuring general information on all the aspects of landscaping and gardening, with a question & answer session. Ben will also offer workshops for clubs or individuals with a common interest etc. Lawns Unlimited Inc. is the perfect name for this business as only the sky is the limit. Zack's creativity knows no bounds and his work is all over northwest Missouri. Consider the powerful first impression made by the entrances to Cameron monuments on hwy 36. To handle all this, time management is critical. Zack serves as Chamber vice president-elect on both the Chamber Executive Board and Board of Directors. He chairs the July 4 celebration which now includes a BBQ contest, Car Show, Quilt Show (his wife, Mary, organizes), pre-fireworks concert AND the fireworks. Zack founded and manages the ‘Founding 50 Group’, designed to provide financial support to our local Food Pantry. In addition, he shares his love for Missouri Western State University as President of the Western Gold Coat Club, an organization founded in 1969 to provide financial support for the athletic department. In short, the Chamber would be hard-pressed to function as effectively w/o the involvement of Lawns Unlimited and Country Hills Nursery Inc.
