Contractors are expected to begin work at the intersection of Grand & Walnut for the installation of new sidewalk and pedestrian crossing signals.
The City Council recently awarded the project to Mega Industries Corporation as the low and best bid of $246,729.00. Funding for this project comes from STP grant monies.
This project includes new ADA sidewalks along both sides of Walnut south of Grand Avenue. It also includes pedestrian crossing improvements and pedestrian crossing signals on the southern and eastern sides of the intersection. With the completion of this project, there will be a continuous sidewalk connection from Evergreen north to Bryan Road.
The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of April. There will be some traffic delays as work progresses, but traffic control restrictions should be removed at the end of each work day. MODOT traffic will also revise the signal timing to help avoid congestion.
