Public Works Priorities

As the new Public Works Director and City Engineer for the City of Cameron, I'm working to assess and prioritize infrastructure improvements. These include improving sidewalk connectivity, completing priority roadway paving and reconstruction projects,

and finishing preliminary plans for constructing trails to close loops around the reservoirs.

SIDEWALK CONNECTIVITY

Currently, we are in the process of identifying risk-reduction priorities to add sidewalks through high-hazard pedestrian areas. Also, we are seeking grant and cost-share opportunities to fund the needed sidewalk improvements.

ROADWAY PAVING AND RECONSTRUCTION

The following have been identified as priority roadway projects for the next 18 months, under the City’s Transportation Fund:

  1. Griffin Road – Spring/Summer 2023
  2. Northland Drive – Fall 2023
  3. Harris Street – Spring/Summer 2024

RESERVOIR TRAILS

We are studying alternatives for completing the disability-accessible trail (“ADA Loop”) around Sunrise Lake (the south reservoir). Currently, visitors to the park must choose between two, dead segments. We are also looking for potential funding alternatives, including grants and cost-sharing.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
